According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.0 square miles (10 km2), all of it land.
As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 400 people, 155 households, and 110 families residing in the town. The population density was 100.2 people per square mile (38.7/km²). There were 188 housing units at an average density of 47.1 per square mile (18.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.50% White, 0.50% Black or African American, 0.25% from other races, and 1.75% from two or more races. 1.75% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 155 households out of which 31.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.9% were married couples living together, 21.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.0% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.11.
